They look to have the features.
I find Harris a bit heavy and clunky, and the lighter alternatives very expensive. The Hardy price of $399.00 isn't too bad either?

Looks like a copy of an Atlas? I have an Atlas copy and it's been awesome, they're much the same as a Harris in the bulk department although maybe a tiny bit lighter? Spose it also depends if you're happy to screw a rail into the forend of your rifle also?
You can get rails off Aliexpress that fit under your swivel attachments so no screwing required. Ive got them for the Atlas knock off.Quote:

Does your atlas fit on the rail properly though? Mine didnt, it worked but wasnt ideal as the locking lug wouldn't go I to the slot on the rail so it kind of hung off the front of the adapter rail do I ended up putting a proper rail on the stockQuote:

Interesting that the hardy bipod is "patent pending". Pretty sure this is never going to be issued, being a blatant knockoff of a more well known bipod. Putting on carbon legs doesn't really change the design.
Personally I'd stick with an atlas. I've had a chinese copy atlas, and it was very average when compared to the real one.
Attaching a pic rail to the forend of the T3 and T1x was very simple, and a lot better than those adapters that would not accept an atlas with 2 cross slots. The adapters were not produced to the picatinny spec, so are totally useless.
Has anyone tried the Caldwell Accumax Carbon Bipod? It looks like a good option. Only weighs 250g and not badly priced.

Maybe I got lucky - Chinese copy Atlas (with extended Notched legs) - off DH gate and spike feet for about $35.00 but invested more that that in the Caldwell pic adapter which was $50 and solid as!!

I have an Atlas copy. On my last hunt I went to take it out of my ammo pouch but one of the legs had rattled loose and fallen off. I also thought it was quite big and bulky so wouldn’t mind something a bit lighter but can’t justify spending the money on a javelin bipod at the moment. I’m guessing a permit will now be required to import another Atlas copy?
What for camera equipment? Might be GST come Oct 1 tho... :wtfsmilie:

I'm laughing on the outside but crying on the inside as I already have 2 import permits against my License according to the AO - One for a 30MOA rail - just in case i need it from PTG. and second a import permit for a Vortex PST replacement under the lifetime warranty would you believe...

They are a bit different to a atlas. They were sold by solohuntr for years called extreme pod. I think hardy changed the leg a bit and gets them made in China.
The pic rail mount from aliexpress probably doesn’t fit because there are a couple different specs for picattiny type mounts. Weaver dimensions are a little bigger.
Im interested in something new as well, i have used a Harris swivel type with podloc for ever now, and the only issue i have with the Harris is it being fiddly to fit in a hurry.
If it had a different mounting system (like the quick-loc system that the Atlas uses then it'd be heaps better. Ive had the odd occasion where the bipod needed to be fitted in a hurry for a Long distance shot, where i didnt have long to get a shot away, i was 1 second too slow getting organised and getting a shot away on a big Jap stag at 600 yards a year ago, a faster method of attaching a bipod may well have given me the time i needed.
The Atlas is awesome for that I have a rail fitted To my Tikka and I'm thinking of fitting one to my Sako as I'm not that impressed with the Javlin that I have.Quote:

All round I think the spartan javelin is one of the better hunting bipods on the market. If you want light, sturdy modernised Harris style then the tier one carbon bipod is exceptionally well made. Legs are quicker and easier to deploy than the atlas. Can get a mounting for a sling swivel or a pic rail. They are a bit more expensive though. Buy once though I guess.
